Episode Notes

Last week’s announcement of the PlayStation Classic invites a reexamination of a fascinating period for RPGs. Does the PS1’s RPG legacy still hold up? And which RPGs should be included on the PlayStation Classic? Nadia and I discuss these questions and more on the latest Axe of the Blood God!

We already know two of the RPGs that will be included with the PlayStation Classic: Final Fantasy VII and Wild Arms. We talk a bit about these classic RPGs, then go through some other possibilities. Valkyrie Profile? Suikoden? Chrono Cross? Breath of Fire 3? They are all interesting choices that reflect the PS1’s unique RPG heritage.

Also in this week’s episode, we celebrate the 20th anniversary of Pokemon Red/Blue’s release in the U.S. by highlighting the best generation of them all!
